Common questions
Where is my data stored?
On the phone you are using. There is no Daybook account for your ledger. Optional backups go to your Google Drive (Android) or your iCloud Drive (iPhone).
How do I back up?
On Android, open Cloud Backup and connect the Google account you want to use. On iPhone, open Settings and turn on iCloud Backup. Daily backup runs at the time you choose (on iPhone, the next time you open Daybook after that time).
How do I restore on a new phone?
Install Daybook, then restore from the same Google Drive or iCloud account you used before. Restore replaces the local ledger with the backup. Android users upgrading from the old Realm-based app can also use Restore from Old Backup in Settings if that file is still on the device.
Can I move data between Android and iPhone?
Yes. Export CSV on one phone and import it on the other. Import accepts current Daybook CSV and the older export format.
How do I export a report?
Use PDF export for a printable transaction report, or CSV if you want a spreadsheet. You choose where the file is saved or shared.
The list looks empty after an update
On Android, check Settings for Restore from Old Backup if you previously used the older Daybook database. You can also restore the latest Drive backup. If neither applies, email support with the approximate date of the update.
Does Daybook include ads?
No. There is no advertising SDK, and the app is free to download.
